Dota2 Compendium Matchmaking Guide and Review

Valve have decided to come up with an seemingly interesting idea known as Compendium Matchmaking. When I first heard of it I thought its gonna be cool to have an event which I thought will be similar to Diretide / Frostivus to celebrate the up ong Dota2 international 2013 . Apparently that was what I thought so.

As I begin to read more about it, I kept wondering ... What is the catch ? Same Heroes, same team just different players. I believe most players will only touch the mode once or twice ( just to try the other team) And completely forget about it. The lineup isn't actually good for pub plays its more of for organized play this reducing the fun out of it .

The lineup is as follows

Radiant :
Juggernaut
Enchantress
Gyrocopter
Batrider
Rubick

Dire:
Magnus
Nightstalker
Shadow Demon
NyxAssassin
Luna

Furthermore, the game was played before the 6.78 parity patch and some of these Heroes have been nerfed ( Magnus, Shadow Demon Bottle Crowing) thus play style is different.

I see it just an AP game with fixed picks that changes every week. Alright maybe die hard fans of the team will enjoy it. But it will get boring after awhile. Although Frostivus and Diretide were imbalanced and gets boring after awhile. ( Necrolyte in Frostivus is just such a huge imbalance. So is heroes with blink and mobility can do such much in Diretide) they gave items and couriers to players making it an incentive to play them, some even more than the actual game.

Perhaps they just need some perks to just get people to play this new mode

1) Get a higher chance or 100% chance to get items or Team pennants from playing the game

2) Actually recreating situations that happened in the game.

This is an interesting idea, why not allow players to actually reenact the situations that happened in the game . ( etc. 5v5 fights)

Example could be like during the laning phase there could be a list of Goals to accomplish . Example Jugg vs Mag mid, and in the game ( example, I didn't watch the actual match.) Jugg picked Magnus off with Omnislash , in compendium mm they could put up a notice for Jugg's Goals
1) Control the lane with Healing Ward and Bottle with Rune Control
2) Once level 6 try and pick off Magnus with Omnislash when he walks away from the creep wave.

For Magnus
1) Use shock wave and bottle to control the lane and farm up a fast arcane boots
2) avoid getting killed by Omnislash by staying near to creeps

By meeting these goals, XP and Goal can be given to the player. Or even points , players with the highest points will get rarer items .

In team fights it could be like " Batrider catches Magnus with lasso and team kills him off before getting off RP. " by achieving this goal the whole team will get points.

By doing this it not only help players to be actually in the pro players' shoes but help new players with improving as they would know what to do in fights / laning.

Currently , this mode is just a normal matchmaking game with fixed picks which Valve probably didn't put much effort in. Lets hope that valve will do a better update next week.
