Analysis : Bounty Hunter Battlefury

Bounty hunter, a Hero popular in pub games because of his invisibility and killing power. He is also a nice pick in competitive them allowing his team to snowball with the gold advantage or turn the table around with a few pick offs. However valve suggested built included a Battlefury for him which we have not seen in many pro game.

So is Battlefury really a good item for Bounty ?

Lets take a look at the bonuses BF provides.

Cost : 4350

Mana Regneration
HP Regeneration
Damage
Cleave.

1) Regeneration

Bounty Hunter is a Hero that goes around lanes after getting Level 6 to gank. And after eachauccessful gank he most probably would end up with little to no mana having to cast toss track and wind walk all together. The bonus Regeneration provided could allow him to not rely on other items such as Bottle.
Alternatives : Bottle / Vladmirs

Bottle could be taken if your Mid solo is not competing for your runes. Vladmirs is a nice item to get since the bonus Mana Regeneration is a fixed amount compared to void stone which is based on his base mana regeneration which is low in the early levels. It also adds damage and lifestealing aura which could help more than a ring of health.

2)  Damage

Having high damage is key tp making use of Jinada's critical damage burst. Battlefury adds a whooping 65 damage which adds to his killing power almost doubling his early game damage.

3) Cleave

A 35% cleave works very well with Jinada since the cleave will be stacked. If you are snow balling into out of control or you have a Magnus in your team you have a chance to deal massive damage to enemies grouped together. Another thing is that cleave allows Bounty Hunter to clear creep waves very quickly which could possibly give him the role of a split pusher later in the game.

4) Easy Build up.

875 x 2 + 1400 + 1200

Each item costs around 1000+/-

With Track golds and sometimes losing some gold due to trade offs ( its always worth to trade kills even if it means sacrificing your life. ) because of track gold .

Cons :

1) Bounty Hunter's goal is to snipe Heroes off, and get as many track kills as possible with his team. Although the additional stats from Battlefury is good, there are better options to consider to fulfill his role. The key stats that he actually need are HP, a decent mana pool, some damage and movement speed.

HP and the Mana Pool allows him to cast as many tracks as possible and survive as long a possible.

Movement speed is also crucial for him to catch him enemies trying to run away when the slow debuff is off and Jinada is on Cooldown. It also allows you to escape since your Wind Walk doesn't provide any movement speed bonus.

2) Various alternatives are available.

With 4350 gold you can purchase many alternative items.

a) BKB (3900 gold)

Bounty Hunter tends to get burst down fairly often due to his need to strike Heroes at melee range and his low HP. With BKB he can pick off supports such as Lion and Rhasta without the fear of getting Chain Disabled till backup comes. In teamfights, you will have more mobility to move around and cast spells around. The additional damage and 190 HP helps a lot.

b) Desolator (3800) and Medallion of Courage (1075)

60 damage and -6 amour and with Medallion is -12 armour as well as 50% regeneration.  Ever since the nerf in Track where his armor loss is taken away, Desolator and Medallion can fill up that gap to amplify Jinada's damage. You will be taking out chunks of HP with every hit with Jinada. With low levels of Wind Walk its always best to Medallion of courage first then hitting him with jinada.

c) Orchids (4125 gold)

Same concept as BKB, allows you to pick off supports without having the fear of them disabling you. The damage amplify also helps to snipe off Heroes when they are alone. The mana regeneration provides all the mana you ever need. It also add damage to boost Jinada's damage. It also helps a lot in teamfights. Another key thing is that you can disable their escape mechanism. This item is core when playing against Heroes like Antimage and Faceless Void. When Bounty has reached his prime when he is about level 7-11 and if he can farm up and Orchid, these Heroes will have no chance to farm at all as they would fear bounty taking them down.

In conclusion, there are better alternatives, but there are some cases where a Battlefury is viable on Bounty Hunter and they are :

1) Your team has skills to make opponents clump up together. ( Dark Seer, Magnus)

2) Your team lacks AoE to counter pushes by summons such as Furion and Broodmother.

3) The enemy team has an illusion heavy Hero such as PL, Naga. Burst cleave might have a chance to clear their illusion if they are not tanky enough. But usually AoE spells are enough. Only consider this if your team lacks them.
